Carp DRAFTING FOR THEPackers

Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB-

FutureB-
The Packers cashed the board's mistake on McCoy: B-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Bru McCoy tumbling to the Packers in slot 217 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The Benson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They will answer for taking safety early while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots went begging. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Nate Wiggins
Good price on Nate Wiggins in the 19th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick41
Rnd2
Troy Fautanu
They did well to land Troy Fautanu in Round 2, Pick 9, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick51
Rnd2
Trey Benson
Trey Benson in slot 51 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick83
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
Michael Hall Jr. in pick No. 83 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick92
Rnd3
Tykee Smith
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tykee Smith. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick119
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
They let Tommy Eichenberg come to them and pounced at No. 119. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick135
Rnd4
James Williams
They zigged when the board said zag, taking James Williams at safety with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open.
Pick197
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
They took Joshua Gray at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick217
Rnd6
Bru McCoy
Steal is underselling it; Bru McCoy at pick No. 217 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick219
Rnd6
Dylan McMahon
Dylan McMahon in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick240
Rnd7
Nathaniel Watson
A slide stopped in the 240th overall pick, with Nathaniel Watson worth more than the price. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
