Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Commanders: B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Commanders reached some 72 spots for Collin Oliver, and value like that does not grow back. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In pick No. 29 they get a downhill hitter at safety, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick66 Rnd3 Jordan Burch
Value said wait; Jordan Burch in slot 66 says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick128 Rnd4 Aeneas Peebles
Aeneas Peebles in Round 4, Pick 26 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Pick133 Rnd4 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dont'e Thornton Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick205 Rnd6 Clay Webb
This one needs a full-page explanation: Clay Webb in the Round 6 slot, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick248 Rnd7 Jaydon Blue
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaydon Blue this early at No. 248. It fills a real need, too.
Pick251 Rnd7 Collin Oliver
Collin Oliver at No. 251 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick257 Rnd7 Nick Martin
They jumped the gun on Nick Martin, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
