Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
D-
ValueC+

FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Cowboys and Henderson: D-. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Dani Dennis-Sutton, 55 picks early at the 70th overall pick.
Henderson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.
With cornerback and tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on edge rusher is the choice that costs them. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, cornerback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In slot 5 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick12
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36
Rnd2
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe in pick No. 36 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick42
Rnd2
DJ Campbell
No drama and no debate, DJ Campbell went about where he belonged in the 42nd overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick67
Rnd3
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at slot 67 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick70
Rnd3
Dani Dennis-Sutton
Dani Dennis-Sutton in the 70th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick72
Rnd3
Sonny Styles
You do not let a safety like Sonny Styles reach the 72nd pick and blink. They did not. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick75
Rnd3
Jordan Burch
Of all the spots to shop, they chose edge rusher. Jordan Burch in Round 3, Pick 11 leaves cornerback and tight end for later.
Pick77
Rnd3
Jaxson Dart
A big swing on Jaxson Dart at pick No. 77, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick86
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
No edge and no loss on Alfred Collins in pick 86; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick113
Rnd4
Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman in No. 113 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick149
Rnd5
TreVeyon Henderson
Somehow TreVeyon Henderson was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick169
Rnd5
Nicholas Singleton
Steal is underselling it; Nicholas Singleton at slot 169 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick170
Rnd5
Antwane Wells Jr.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Antwane Wells Jr. in pick 170, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick171
Rnd5
Tonka Hemingway
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tonka Hemingway. It fills a real need, too.
Pick186
Rnd6
Brennan Presley
Brennan Presley in pick No. 186 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick189
Rnd6
Xavier Nwankpa
The board fumbled Xavier Nwankpa all the way to No. 189, and they scooped it up. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick209
Rnd6
Will Howard
They left a pile of value on the table to take Will Howard this early at the Round 6 slot. The roster fit checks out.
