Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Larceny in the 213th overall pick lands the Steelers a B-, Manning and all.

The board owed the Steelers one, and it paid up: Arch Manning, the No. 46 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 6 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots went begging. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In the 20th overall pick they get a true top target. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick51 Rnd2 Garrett Nussmeier
Garrett Nussmeier is a better player than the 51st pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick78 Rnd3 Jaeden Roberts
A straight-up fair deal on Jaeden Roberts at pick No. 78, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick85 Rnd3 Cayden Green
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Cayden Green adds an offensive lineman and leaves interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots untouched.
Pick99 Rnd3 Kaytron Allen
They took Kaytron Allen at par in Round 3, Pick 35, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick120 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
No drama and no debate, Tacario Davis went about where he belonged in pick 120. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jude Bowry
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots to take Jude Bowry, an offensive lineman that was not the priority.
Pick159 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tanner Koziol. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick200 Rnd6 Isaiah Nwokobia
Isaiah Nwokobia at the 200th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick212 Rnd6 Trebor Pena
Trebor Pena at the 212th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick213 Rnd6 Arch Manning
Taking Arch Manning in pick No. 213 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick234 Rnd7 Desmond Reid
No edge and no loss on Desmond Reid in No. 234; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
