Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Packers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Packers started one anyway for Malik Mustapha, 26 picks ahead of schedule.
Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
On value alone, Oladapo makes the weekend a net positive.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In No. 25 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
They paid sticker price for Edgerrin Cooper in pick 41, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick58
Rnd2
Max Melton
By-the-book stuff, Max Melton at Round 2, Pick 26 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jaylen Wright
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jaylen Wright at pick No. 88. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick91
Rnd3
Cole Bishop
They talked themselves into Cole Bishop at the Round 3 slot, and the board did not agree. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick127
Rnd4
Malik Mustapha
A curious use of the 127th pick. Edge rusher, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Malik Mustapha did not.
Pick168
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
Kitan Oladapo is a better player than pick No. 168 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick204
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
A reasonable price with a little left over, Curtis Jacobs in Round 6, Pick 29. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick216
Rnd6
Garret Greenfield
No edge and no loss on Garret Greenfield in No. 216; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick243
Rnd7
Jawhar Jordan
A real head-scratcher, Jawhar Jordan in pick 243 is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick251
Rnd7
LaDarius Henderson
Nothing to complain about; LaDarius Henderson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
