Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the 49ers were there to profit. Chau Smith-Wade, the No. 168 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 214. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

They will need Cole to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
