Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Ravens let Dixon fall and pounced. Final grade: B. The Ravens did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Johnny Dixon fell into pick 250. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Every board in the league had Taylor lower, and that gap is the story. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In the 30th pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick62
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
Somehow Jordan Morgan was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 30, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick93
Rnd3
Renardo Green
A slide stopped in pick No. 93, with Renardo Green worth more than the price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick113
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
The board had Zak Zinter higher than the 113th overall pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick130
Rnd4
Jamari Thrash
No edge and no loss on Jamari Thrash in pick 130; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick165
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at No. 165 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick218
Rnd6
Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick228
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
A wild overpay on Trey Taylor in slot 228, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick250
Rnd7
Johnny Dixon
Johnny Dixon at pick 250 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
