Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall
D
ValueB-

FutureB+
The Raiders answered their biggest question with Mendoza. Grade: D. Somebody took the Raiders to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
The whole projection now runs through Fernando Mendoza; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They will need Young to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In the 1st pick they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick26
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36
Rnd2
Zion Young
Zion Young at slot 36 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick67
Rnd3
Omar Cooper Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Omar Cooper Jr. at No. 67, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jaishawn Barham
They liked Jaishawn Barham enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 102. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick117
Rnd4
D'Angelo Ponds
A quiet steal in the 117th overall pick: D'Angelo Ponds for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick118
Rnd4
Blake Miller
They paid sticker price for Blake Miller in pick 118, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick126
Rnd4
Charles Jagusah
Good price on Charles Jagusah in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick134
Rnd4
Jakobe Thomas
Jakobe Thomas at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick135
Rnd4
CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels in No. 135 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick167
Rnd5
Terion Stewart
Terion Stewart in the 167th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick176
Rnd5
Pat Coogan
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Pat Coogan. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
