Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB
Nobody dealt better than the Packers this weekend: B.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Packers were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the Jackson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

With quarterback and wide receiver unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In pick No. 28 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick51 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 19 with a little surplus value in Cooper Beebe. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick55 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
Nothing to complain about; Edgerrin Cooper went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick58 Rnd2 Junior Colson
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Junior Colson while clear needs at quarterback and wide receiver sat open.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
Fair-plus on Jaden Hicks, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick90 Rnd3 Braelon Allen
A reach for Braelon Allen in the Round 3 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick98 Rnd3 Cedric Gray
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback and wide receiver to take Cedric Gray, a linebacker that was not the priority.
Pick102 Rnd4 McKinnley Jackson
A wild overpay on McKinnley Jackson in slot 102, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick126 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ben Sinnott. It fills a real need, too.
Pick134 Rnd4 Jarrian Jones
No edge and no loss on Jarrian Jones in the 134th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick169 Rnd5 Tanor Bortolini
Tanor Bortolini at No. 169 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick178 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs at pick No. 178 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick202 Rnd6 Garret Greenfield
They liked Garret Greenfield enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 6 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick219 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
JD Bertrand at Round 6, Pick 44 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick245 Rnd7 Josh Proctor
They paid sticker price for Josh Proctor in the 245th overall pick, and that is fine. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick255 Rnd7 Trey Taylor
They paid up for Trey Taylor at slot 255 when waiting would have done the job. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
