Draft Grade — Cowboys

FutureB
The Cowboys let Moss fall into their laps, and walked away with a D. The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Miller Moss, the No. 109 name on the board, in No. 209.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They are betting McCullough proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Cowboys indulged a want in Bailey while a need in cornerback, tight end and other spots stayed open.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, cornerback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Tre Harris
By-the-book stuff, Tre Harris at the 13th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick44
Rnd2
Mykel Williams
Mykel Williams at pick No. 44 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick45
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
Jonah Savaiinaea in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick55
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery at No. 55 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick77
Rnd3
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in Round 3, Pick 13 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick102
Rnd4
David Bailey
A want over a need in the 102nd pick: David Bailey adds an edge rusher while cornerback, tight end and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick113
Rnd4
Lander Barton
They paid sticker price for Lander Barton in slot 113, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick122
Rnd4
Raheim Sanders
A straight-up fair deal on Raheim Sanders at pick 122, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick151
Rnd5
Drew Allar
Drew Allar in the 151st overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick169
Rnd5
Nic Anderson
They did well to land Nic Anderson in pick No. 169, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick170
Rnd5
Xavier Nwankpa
A tidy bit of business in slot 170, where Xavier Nwankpa graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick172
Rnd5
Shemar Turner
They went early on Shemar Turner in the 172nd pick, and the value did not follow. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick188
Rnd6
Dasan McCullough
Dasan McCullough at pick 188 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick209
Rnd6
Miller Moss
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Miller Moss in the Round 6 slot, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
