Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureB
The Packers cashed the board's mistake on Fields: B.

The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Malachi Fields fell into the 171st pick. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Payton has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They went 7 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick73 Rnd3 Arch Manning
Circle this one: Arch Manning at No. 73 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick95 Rnd3 Keon Sabb
They read the board right and Keon Sabb was the payoff at pick 95. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick131 Rnd4 Cayden Green
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Cayden Green in Round 4, Pick 31, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick171 Rnd5 Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields in slot 171 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick212 Rnd6 Patrick Payton
Patrick Payton at the 212th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick219 Rnd7 Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster at the Round 7 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick223 Rnd7 Davison Igbinosun
They will replay Davison Igbinosun at the 223rd pick for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick246 Rnd7 Brett Norfleet
Brett Norfleet at pick No. 246 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick256 Rnd7 A'Marion Peterson
A'Marion Peterson in pick No. 256 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
