There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cowboys took Eric Gentry a full 119 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

The whole projection now runs through Jayden Maiava; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.

The Cowboys indulged a want in Mesidor while a need in tight end stayed open. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.
