FutureA+
A franchise passer in Moore headlines a D+ weekend for the Cowboys. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Cowboys did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
Whatever Dante Moore becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through offensive lineman.
The cost of the Martin reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Landing McDonald that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and offensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Dante Moore
In slot 6 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick21
Rnd1
Leonard Moore
In the 21st pick they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick37
Rnd2
Trey'Dez Green
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Trey'Dez Green at the 37th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick39
Rnd2
A'Mauri Washington
The board had A'Mauri Washington higher than Round 2, Pick 7, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick46
Rnd2
Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
Kenyatta Jackson Jr. at the Round 2 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick67
Rnd3
Jelani McDonald
They robbed the room for Jelani McDonald here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick68
Rnd3
Omarion Miller
They paid up for Omarion Miller at pick No. 68 when waiting would have done the job. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick109
Rnd4
LJ Martin
A reach for LJ Martin in pick 109; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Pick120
Rnd4
Tony Rojas
They went early on Tony Rojas in the 120th overall pick, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
