Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Patriots reached some 32 spots for Kenyatta Jackson Jr., and value like that does not grow back. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Denzel Boston
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick62 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
A slide stopped in the 62nd overall pick, with Dillon Thieneman worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
A wild overpay on Kenyatta Jackson Jr. in pick No. 94, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick124 Rnd4 Blake Miller
They jumped the gun on Blake Miller, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick130 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis at the 130th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
