Slasky80 DRAFTING FOR THEBears

FutureB
The Bears worked the phones like thieves and earned a B. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bears spent Round 2, Pick 14 on Parker Brailsford, a name the board had a full 71 spots lower. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Getting Gray where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The veteran additions, Courtland Sutton chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In No. 22 they get juice off the edge, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyler Booker in pick 40. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick46
Rnd2
Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford at the 46th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick53
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
No edge and no loss on Jonah Savaiinaea in Round 2, Pick 21; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick77
Rnd3
Kenneth Grant
They paid sticker price for Kenneth Grant in slot 77, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick120
Rnd4
DJ Giddens
A reach for DJ Giddens in the 120th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick149
Rnd5
Joshua Gray
The board had Joshua Gray higher than the 149th pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick201
Rnd6
Makari Paige
By-the-book stuff, Makari Paige at Round 6, Pick 26 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick245
Rnd7
Maliq Carr
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Maliq Carr. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick256
Rnd7
Bru McCoy
A quiet steal in the 256th overall pick: Bru McCoy for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
