Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesA+ FutureF
The Patriots cashed the board's mistake on Wilson: B-.

Whoever sat across the table from the Patriots should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Wilson steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

They will need Batty to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
Travis Hunter in the 4th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick29 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a mismatch in the passing game, outstanding value to boot.
Pick38 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
They read the board right and Emeka Egbuka was the payoff at the 38th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick61 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
They will replay Xavier Watts at the Round 2 slot for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick77 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
No drama and no debate, Ozzy Trapilo went about where he belonged in No. 77. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick128 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jared Wilson reach pick No. 128 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick217 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
Carson Vinson at pick No. 217 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick220 Rnd7 Tyler Batty
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tyler Batty. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick238 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in the 238th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
