Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Harris should have been long gone. The Panthers pounced, and earned a B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Tre Harris at the 227th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In pick 8 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick57 Rnd2 Jahdae Barron
Somehow Jahdae Barron was still sitting there in pick No. 57, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick74 Rnd3 Nick Emmanwori
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach Round 3, Pick 10 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick109 Rnd4 Walter Nolen
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick112 Rnd4 Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in the 112th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick139 Rnd5 Ashton Jeanty
Circle this one: Ashton Jeanty at the 139th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick145 Rnd5 Josaiah Stewart
Josaiah Stewart at No. 145 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick162 Rnd5 Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum in slot 162 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Pick227 Rnd7 Tre Harris
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tre Harris in slot 227, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
