Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesF FutureA+
The Vikings let Dixon fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

The Vikings lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Dixon at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick49 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Nothing to complain about; Caleb Banks went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick70 Rnd3 Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter in pick No. 70 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Pick82 Rnd3 Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick97 Rnd3 Sam Hecht
Nice patience on Sam Hecht, who had no business lasting to pick 97. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick107 Rnd4 Chandler Rivers
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Chandler Rivers in slot 107. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick163 Rnd5 Nate Boerkircher
They read the board right and Nate Boerkircher was the payoff at the 163rd pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick196 Rnd6 Taylen Green
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 196, where Taylen Green graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick234 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
Jeff Caldwell in pick 234 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick235 Rnd7 Thaddeus Dixon
They will replay Thaddeus Dixon at slot 235 for years; that is how good the value is. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick244 Rnd7 Desmond Reid
A conviction pick on Desmond Reid at No. 244 that the board grades a round light. It fills a real need, too.
