DutchNugget DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks

Draft Grade — Seahawks

FutureD
A weekend the Seahawks spent ahead of the board, for worse: F. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Seahawks, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
If Frazier pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Stover pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at wide receiver, quarterback and other spots.
Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left wide receiver open, and the grade is the bill.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Jer'Zhan Newton
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptive interior force. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick16
Rnd1
Jared Verse
No edge and no loss on Jared Verse in Round 1, Pick 16; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick39
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
They talked themselves into Zach Frazier at the 39th overall pick, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick70
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A reach for Cooper Beebe in pick No. 70; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick78
Rnd3
Cade Stover
A curious use of slot 78. Wide receiver, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a TE-EDGE in Cade Stover did not.
Pick81
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Nothing to complain about; Christian Haynes went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick107
Rnd4
Javon Solomon
Of all the spots to shop, they chose OLB-EDGE. Javon Solomon in No. 107 leaves wide receiver, quarterback and other spots for later.
Pick118
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
They did well to land Leonard Taylor III in pick 118, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick154
Rnd5
Edefuan Ulofoshio
Edefuan Ulofoshio in Round 5, Pick 18 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick194
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones in slot 194 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick236
Rnd7
Xavier Thomas
Xavier Thomas at pick No. 236 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
