The Steelers cashed the board's mistake on Hudson: B.

Thirty-one other rooms let Kobe Hudson slide, and the Steelers were the ones holding the card at pick 231. Highway robbery.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Williams to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter, outstanding value to boot.
Pick52 Rnd2 Kaleb Johnson
A slide stopped in the 52nd overall pick, with Kaleb Johnson worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick83 Rnd3 Bradyn Swinson
Somehow Bradyn Swinson was still sitting there in No. 83, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick122 Rnd4 Dillon Gabriel
No drama and no debate, Dillon Gabriel went about where he belonged in pick 122. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick163 Rnd5 Nohl Williams
A reach for Nohl Williams in Round 5, Pick 24; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick225 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at pick No. 225 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick231 Rnd7 Kobe Hudson
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Kobe Hudson in the 231st pick, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick247 Rnd7 Ben Yurosek
The board had cheaper options than Ben Yurosek at slot 247, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
