Draft Grade — Raiders

The Raiders let Abney II fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Raiders were there to profit. Keith Abney II, the No. 71 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 102.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Omosigho has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
They went 7 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Rueben Bain Jr.
In pick 1 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36
Rnd2
Trevor Goosby
They went early on Trevor Goosby in the Round 2 slot, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67
Rnd3
Carson Beck
A premium they did not need to pay, Carson Beck a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick102
Rnd4
Keith Abney II
You do not let a cornerback like Keith Abney II reach No. 102 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117
Rnd4
Diego Pavia
Diego Pavia slipping to the 117th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
Pick134
Rnd4
Sammy Omosigho
A real head-scratcher, Sammy Omosigho in the 134th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick174
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
No edge and no loss on Kevin Coleman Jr. in pick No. 174; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick182
Rnd6
Darius Taylor
Darius Taylor at slot 182 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick185
Rnd6
Isaac Smith
The board had Isaac Smith higher than slot 185, and the safety fell to them anyway. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick219
Rnd7
Miles Kitselman
They paid sticker price for Miles Kitselman in the 219th pick, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
