Ottis DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Packers, and a B- to prove it. The Adam Trick selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 26 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Sprague steal is the beam this whole class leans on. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick52
Rnd2
Adam Trick
Adam Trick in slot 52 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick84
Rnd3
Andrew Sprague
Andrew Sprague slipping to Round 3, Pick 20 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick120
Rnd4
Ashton Hampton
A clean, defensible pick in No. 120 with a little surplus value in Ashton Hampton. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick158
Rnd5
CJ Bailey
Nice patience on CJ Bailey, who had no business lasting to the Round 5 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick199
Rnd6
Cody Jackson
A reach on Cody Jackson in the 199th pick; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick236
Rnd7
Randon Fontenette
The board had Randon Fontenette higher than the 236th overall pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick254
Rnd7
Rueben Owens II
They paid a round early for Rueben Owens II in the 254th overall pick, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick257
Rnd7
Micah Mays Jr.
They read the board right and Micah Mays Jr. was the payoff at No. 257. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
