mhollander21 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Packers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Zion Logue at slot 243 is 46 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 41, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick58
Rnd2
Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens in the 58th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick88
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
No drama and no debate, Dominick Puni went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick91
Rnd3
Trey Benson
They paid sticker price for Trey Benson in No. 91, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick127
Rnd4
Josh Newton
A clean, defensible pick in the 127th pick with a little surplus value in Josh Newton. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick168
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
Good price on Luke McCaffrey in slot 168, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick204
Rnd6
Josh Proctor
They went early on Josh Proctor in the 204th overall pick, and the value did not follow. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick216
Rnd6
Andrew Raym
Andrew Raym in pick No. 216 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick243
Rnd7
Zion Logue
Zion Logue at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick251
Rnd7
Jalen Coker
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalen Coker. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
