Ottis DRAFTING FOR THEDolphins
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall

FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Sorsby in the fold, and a B- for the Dolphins. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Dolphins spent their marquee pick on Brendan Sorsby, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They will need McCuin to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Marshall falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Brendan Sorsby
In slot 11 they get their guy under center for the next decade, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43
Rnd2
Will Heldt
This one needs a full-page explanation: Will Heldt in pick No. 43, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75
Rnd3
Devin McCuin
They reached a country mile for Devin McCuin at pick 75, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick87
Rnd3
Anto Saka
Value said wait; Anto Saka in the 87th overall pick says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick90
Rnd3
Peter Clarke
Peter Clarke slipping to the Round 3 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jayden Jackson
A straight-up fair deal on Jayden Jackson at Round 4, Pick 11, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jordan Marshall
Jordan Marshall in No. 149 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick227
Rnd7
Tavion Gadson
A premium they did not need to pay, Tavion Gadson a notch or two before his time. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
