Draft Grade — Bears

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Bears. The Derrick Moore pick is the one that will follow the Bears into the fall. They took him 46 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They banked enough surplus on Iheanachor to cover a lot of smaller sins. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In slot 25 they get the heartbeat of the defense at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Derrick Moore
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Derrick Moore well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick91
Rnd3
Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor at No. 91 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
Pick127
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis slid further than he should have, and pick 127 is lovely value for the cornerback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick129
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
They reached into another round for Davison Igbinosun, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick163
Rnd5
Xavier Nwankpa
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Xavier Nwankpa. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick166
Rnd5
Jalen Farmer
Jalen Farmer at the 166th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick171
Rnd5
Kaleb Proctor
They took Kaleb Proctor at par in No. 171, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick220
Rnd7
Jeff Caldwell
Jeff Caldwell at pick No. 220 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick239
Rnd7
Fa'alili Fa'amoe
A straight-up fair deal on Fa'alili Fa'amoe at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick241
Rnd7
Jack Kelly
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jack Kelly in Round 7, Pick 25, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
