td101099 DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bears did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B. The Bears' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it.
The Banks value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The cost of the Braxton reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
They paid sticker price for Sonny Styles in the 25th overall pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick57
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 25: Caleb Banks for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick89
Rnd3
Emmett Johnson
Emmett Johnson in the 89th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick129
Rnd4
Jaeden Roberts
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaeden Roberts at pick No. 129 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick163
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun in pick 163 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick239
Rnd7
PJ Williams
No drama and no debate, PJ Williams went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick241
Rnd7
Jaylon Braxton
Jaylon Braxton at slot 241 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
