Draft Grade — Packers

McCormick should have been long gone. The Packers pounced, and earned a B-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Mason McCormick tumbling to the Packers in No. 169 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Smith left real value on the table behind him. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In pick 25 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Cooper DeJean
A slide stopped in pick No. 41, with Cooper DeJean worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick58
Rnd2
Junior Colson
Junior Colson at the 58th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
A tidy little value on Jaden Hicks in the Round 3 slot, a step better than break-even. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick91
Rnd3
Maason Smith
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Maason Smith. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick126
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen at No. 126 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick169
Rnd5
Mason McCormick
They barely believed it either: Mason McCormick still on the board at slot 169. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick202
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs at Round 6, Pick 27 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick219
Rnd6
Caedan Wallace
They did well to land Caedan Wallace in Round 6, Pick 44, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick245
Rnd7
Josh Proctor
Josh Proctor in No. 245 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick255
Rnd7
Bub Means
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 255, where Bub Means graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
