The steal of the weekend belongs to the Cowboys and Davis: B+. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Tyler Davis, the No. 119 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 5, Pick 6. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Every board in the league had Amegadjie lower, and that gap is the story. The veteran additions, Kaden Elliss chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick56
Rnd2
Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie at the 56th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick142
Rnd5
Tyler Davis
Tyler Davis at pick No. 142 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick173
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
Fair-plus on Kamal Hadden, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
