You build a draft on nights like this. Andrew Mukuba had no business being available in the Round 4 slot, and the 49ers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Every board in the league had Hawes lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
