The real work happened on the phones. The Patriots fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

The Thieneman pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots went begging.

They are betting Igbinosun proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
