The search is over. The Broncos handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

The cost of the Byrd reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.

They banked enough surplus on Carson to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Carson pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with running back still on the board.

The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
