Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Steelers, and a B- to prove it.

Some picks age like wine; Trey Zuhn III at pick 124 will need to, sitting 82 spots clear of his grade.

That Knight Jr. pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

Job largely done: quarterback settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a true top target. A real need, handled.
Pick52 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
A big swing on Jalen Milroe at pick 52, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick86 Rnd3 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton at the 86th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick122 Rnd4 Demetrius Knight Jr.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Demetrius Knight Jr. in No. 122, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick124 Rnd4 Trey Zuhn III
They left a pile of value on the table to take Trey Zuhn III this early at the Round 4 slot. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick163 Rnd5 Willie Lampkin
They liked Willie Lampkin enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 163. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick225 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at the 225th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick231 Rnd7 Justin Walley
A wild overpay on Justin Walley in pick No. 231, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick247 Rnd7 Hunter Wohler
They let Hunter Wohler come to them and pounced at the 247th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
