Larceny in pick No. 149 lands the Lions a B, Wilson and all.

You could see the war room lean forward. Jared Wilson at the Round 5 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. No fireworks, but a solid B.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Their trades came out a wash either way.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Alfred Collins in slot 60 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It adds depth where they could use a little.

Steal is underselling it; Maxwell Hairston at pick 101 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 197th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.

Karene Reid at Round 6, Pick 20 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It fills a real need, too.

The board fumbled Jaylen Reed all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

A tight end of that caliber at the 230th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.

Miles Frazier at slot 246 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
