FutureB-
Larceny in the Round 6 slot lands the Giants a B+, Wright and all. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Giants were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
The Wright pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The veteran additions, Arik Armstead chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In slot 6 they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in pick No. 39. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick64
Rnd2
Adisa Isaac
By-the-book stuff, Adisa Isaac at Round 2, Pick 32 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick70
Rnd3
Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia slipping to the 70th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick107
Rnd4
Michael Pratt
Michael Pratt in the 107th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick143
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
A clean, defensible pick in No. 143 with a little surplus value in Malik Mustapha. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick185
Rnd6
Jaylen Wright
The board fumbled Jaylen Wright all the way to Round 6, Pick 10, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
