FutureA
Larceny in slot 47 lands the Giants a B, Legette and all. When a board-topper like Xavier Legette slides to Round 2, Pick 15, you do not overthink it, and the Giants did not. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In pick No. 21 they get a home-run threat at receiver, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick38
Rnd2
Nate Wiggins
Nate Wiggins in Round 2, Pick 6 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick47
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Taking Xavier Legette in No. 47 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick53
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick70
Rnd3
Javon Foster
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Javon Foster at slot 70. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick106
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
Tyler Davis in pick 106 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick143
Rnd5
Dylan Laube
Dylan Laube at the 143rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick153
Rnd5
Billy Bowman Jr.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Billy Bowman Jr.. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick184
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford in Round 6, Pick 9 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
