Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall

FutureA+
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Broncos: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Broncos were there to profit. Payton Wilson, the No. 57 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 76. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They will need Eboigbe to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work. The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
In pick 28 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick76
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick121
Rnd4
Michael Pratt
A real head-scratcher, Michael Pratt in pick No. 121 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick128
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
Value said wait; Justin Eboigbe in the 128th overall pick says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick134
Rnd4
Christian Jones
No edge and no loss on Christian Jones in the 134th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick136
Rnd4
Jaylin Simpson
By-the-book stuff, Jaylin Simpson at No. 136 squarely in line with his ranking. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick145
Rnd5
Walter Rouse
Walter Rouse at pick 145 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick147
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick160
Rnd5
Nelson Ceaser
No drama and no debate, Nelson Ceaser went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 24. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jordan Jefferson
They paid up for Jordan Jefferson at slot 174 when waiting would have done the job. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick203
Rnd6
Erick All
Erick All in Round 6, Pick 28 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick207
Rnd6
Frank Gore Jr.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Frank Gore Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
