Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall

ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Chiefs let Leavitt fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Sam Leavitt tumbling to the Chiefs in pick 114 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. They left with tight end solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
They took Avieon Terrell at par in the 14th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick45
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Caleb Banks at No. 45 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick76
Rnd3
Xavier Chaplin
No edge and no loss on Xavier Chaplin in Round 3, Pick 12; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick114
Rnd4
Sam Leavitt
Sam Leavitt at the 114th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick153
Rnd5
Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg is a better player than the Round 5 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick176
Rnd5
Aaron Graves
No drama and no debate, Aaron Graves went about where he belonged in pick No. 176. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
