FutureA
A franchise passer in Maye headlines a A- weekend for the Bears. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. However the rest shakes out, Jenkins at that price is a win they earned.
In the end it comes back to Drake Maye, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In the 1st overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick19
Rnd1
JC Latham
In pick 19 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
A conviction pick on Cooper Beebe at No. 41 that the board grades a round light. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick69
Rnd3
Kris Jenkins
They read the board right and Kris Jenkins was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 5. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
