The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

Whatever Caleb Williams becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Corley. The Ted Karras deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
