Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Ravens kept it disciplined and banked a B.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Ravens did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to interior defensive lineman, which was the need that mattered most. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

Landing Barron that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The Gilbert pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick35 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick64 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper at slot 64 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick89 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
The board had Christian Haynes higher than No. 89, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick95 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
A clean, defensible pick in Round 3, Pick 32 with a little surplus value in Roman Wilson. The roster fit checks out.
Pick132 Rnd4 Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden at pick No. 132 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick134 Rnd4 Jahdae Barron
They read the board right and Jahdae Barron was the payoff at the 134th overall pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick169 Rnd5 Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing at pick 169 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick253 Rnd7 Arik Gilbert
They went early on Arik Gilbert in the 253rd pick, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
