Draft Grade — Bills

FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Bills. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Bills walked out of the weekend still thin at interior defensive lineman, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Williams. They will need Pritchett to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell in pick No. 29 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick69
Rnd3
Junior Colson
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Junior Colson. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick99
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks in the 99th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick105
Rnd4
Ray Davis
They paid sticker price for Ray Davis in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick129
Rnd4
Nehemiah Pritchett
A premium they did not need to pay, Nehemiah Pritchett a notch or two before his time. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick162
Rnd5
Layden Robinson
By-the-book stuff, Layden Robinson at No. 162 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick166
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
Kitan Oladapo in Round 5, Pick 30 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick198
Rnd6
Omar Speights
No drama and no debate, Omar Speights went about where he belonged in pick 198. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick202
Rnd6
Isaiah Williams
Isaiah Williams at Round 6, Pick 27 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick207
Rnd6
Brevyn Spann-Ford
The board had cheaper options than Brevyn Spann-Ford at pick No. 207, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick250
Rnd7
Trey Wedig
They paid a round early for Trey Wedig in the 250th overall pick, more than the board wanted. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
