Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall B-
ValueB NeedC+ TradesD FutureA
The Eagles kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

The Eagles spent real capital to be 72 picks early on DJ Vonnahme, and the board is going to hold them to it.

Getting Echoles where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The Bolden pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at cornerback, edge rusher and other spots.

Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 KJ Bolden
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, KJ Bolden adds a safety and leaves cornerback, edge rusher and other spots untouched.
Pick47 Rnd2 Will Echoles
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Will Echoles reach pick 47 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick97 Rnd3 Samson Okunlola
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Samson Okunlola worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick114 Rnd4 Ian Strong
They jumped the gun on Ian Strong, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick150 Rnd5 Justice Haynes
They left a pile of value on the table to take Justice Haynes this early at slot 150. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick157 Rnd5 Jayden Jackson
Taking Jayden Jackson in pick No. 157 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick229 Rnd7 DJ Vonnahme
DJ Vonnahme in the 229th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick236 Rnd7 Niki Prongos
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Niki Prongos. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick250 Rnd7 TJ Metcalf
The board had TJ Metcalf higher than Round 7, Pick 29, and the safety fell to them anyway. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
