FutureB+
The Bears fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Bears were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Chambers falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 1st overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value.
Pick18
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In pick No. 18 they get a problem off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick75
Rnd3
Caelen Carson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Caelen Carson at the 75th pick is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick78
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
They paid sticker price for Michael Hall Jr. in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick110
Rnd4
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni slid further than he should have, and slot 110 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick127
Rnd4
Isaiah Adams
Nothing to complain about; Isaiah Adams went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick146
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
Good price on Jordan Travis in Round 5, Pick 10, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick186
Rnd6
Jacob Cowing
Nice patience on Jacob Cowing, who had no business lasting to No. 186. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick232
Rnd7
Steele Chambers
A quiet steal in the Round 7 slot: Steele Chambers for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
