Draft Grade — Packers

FutureB
Grand theft in pick 203: the Packers steal Barrett and grade out a B+. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Packers were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
The Barrett pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, quarterback and other spots. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
They are betting Crumedy proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kamren Kinchens
In the 30th pick they get a ballhawk on the back end at fair value. More want than need.
Pick54
Rnd2
Kiran Amegadjie
A straight-up fair deal on Kiran Amegadjie at No. 54, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick57
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick73
Rnd3
Trey Benson
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Benson. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick84
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes in pick No. 84 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick88
Rnd3
Maason Smith
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Maason Smith adds a DT-EDGE and leaves edge rusher, quarterback and other spots untouched.
Pick92
Rnd3
Audric Estime
They paid sticker price for Audric Estime in slot 92, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick125
Rnd4
Kris Abrams-Draine
Kris Abrams-Draine at No. 125 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick135
Rnd4
Cam Hart
They took Cam Hart at par in pick 135, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick159
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
No edge and no loss on Kitan Oladapo in pick No. 159; it is a wash and a sensible one. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick203
Rnd6
Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett in the 203rd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick217
Rnd6
Jaden Crumedy
A premium they did not need to pay, Jaden Crumedy a notch or two before his time. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
Pick219
Rnd6
Myles Jones
Myles Jones slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick246
Rnd7
Walter Rouse
Walter Rouse in Round 7, Pick 26 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
