Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Giants were there to profit. Ollie Gordon II, the No. 175 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 248.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

In the end it comes back to Walter Nolen, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
