Draft Grade — Browns
Overall

FutureA
The Browns won the night they stopped Muhammad from sliding. Grade: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Malik Muhammad at Round 5, Pick 1 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In No. 12 they get a centerfielder for the defense at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick27
Rnd1
Kadyn Proctor
In slot 27 they get protection for the quarterback, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Arvell Reese
Circle this one: Arvell Reese at the Round 2 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick71
Rnd3
Olaivavega Ioane
They barely believed it either: Olaivavega Ioane still on the board at Round 3, Pick 7. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick85
Rnd3
Elijah Sarratt
You do not let a wide receiver like Elijah Sarratt reach the 85th overall pick and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick106
Rnd4
John Mateer
Steal is underselling it; John Mateer at pick 106 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick112
Rnd4
Justice Haynes
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Justice Haynes at the 112th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick141
Rnd5
Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad in pick No. 141 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick145
Rnd5
Nyck Harbor
The board fumbled Nyck Harbor all the way to No. 145, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick150
Rnd5
Chase Bisontis
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Chase Bisontis in Round 5, Pick 10, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick204
Rnd6
Rayshaun Benny
A tidy little value on Rayshaun Benny in slot 204, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick244
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Trey Zuhn III in the Round 7 slot. The roster fit checks out.
