Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
Grand theft in the Round 6 slot: the Cowboys steal Ransom and grade out a B+.

Somebody in the 204th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Lathan Ransom, the No. 105 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

They will need Mauigoa to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Omarion Hampton
In the Round 1 slot they get a centerpiece for the ground game, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Nothing to complain about; Tyleik Williams went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick51 Rnd2 Trey Amos
No edge and no loss on Trey Amos in pick 51; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick76 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
Value with a capital V on Jayden Higgins in Round 3, Pick 12, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick149 Rnd5 Luke Kandra
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Luke Kandra. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick171 Rnd5 Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough in the 171st overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick174 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
They took Ajani Cornelius at par in the 174th pick, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick204 Rnd6 Lathan Ransom
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Lathan Ransom in No. 204, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick211 Rnd6 Raheim Sanders
You do not let a running back like Raheim Sanders reach slot 211 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick239 Rnd7 Zeek Biggers
Zeek Biggers in the 239th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick247 Rnd7 Francisco Mauigoa
Francisco Mauigoa at No. 247 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
