Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
The Patriots answered their biggest question with Daniels. Grade: A-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.

The McCaffrey value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

If Fisher pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

In the end it comes back to Jayden Daniels, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 5 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
Pick34 Rnd2 Ladd McConkey
They took Ladd McConkey at par in pick 34, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick88 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
They barely believed it either: Patrick Paul still on the board at No. 88. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick105 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen in slot 105 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
They liked Blake Fisher enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 4, Pick 10. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick115 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Javon Foster in the 115th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick137 Rnd5 Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick180 Rnd6 Luke McCaffrey
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Luke McCaffrey in the 180th overall pick, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick193 Rnd6 Khristian Boyd
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Khristian Boyd at pick No. 193 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick231 Rnd7 Nathan Thomas
Good price on Nathan Thomas in No. 231, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
