Slasky80 DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB-
The Bears did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B. The Bears spent real capital to be 38 picks early on Jordan Hall, and the board is going to hold them to it. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Brailsford. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
Jeremiyah Love in the 20th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick48
Rnd2
Nyck Harbor
Nyck Harbor is a better player than the Round 2 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick56
Rnd2
Michael Taaffe
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Michael Taaffe at No. 56. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick80
Rnd3
Cashius Howell
They paid a round early for Cashius Howell in the 80th overall pick, more than the board wanted. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick126
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Parker Brailsford in Round 4, Pick 24, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick155
Rnd5
Barion Brown
Barion Brown at pick 155 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick194
Rnd6
James Williams
Value said wait; James Williams in the 194th pick says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick229
Rnd7
Rueben Owens
Rueben Owens at pick 229 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick233
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
Jordan Hall in slot 233 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick248
Rnd7
Randon Fontenette
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Randon Fontenette. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
