Draft Grade — Texans
Overall

A sensible, unshowy class lands the Texans a B. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Texans walked out of the weekend still thin at wide receiver, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
McDonald at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In the Round 1 slot they get a three-down runner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40
Rnd2
Caleb Lomu
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Caleb Lomu. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick44
Rnd2
Kayden McDonald
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 12: Kayden McDonald for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
